LEADERSHIP FOR SAFETY EXCELLENCE INCLASS TRAINING

Overview
This course is required for all supervisors in the NWT and Nunavut. It meets WSCC training requirements and prepares supervisors to support a strong safety culture by understanding how safety management systems work. The two-day course follows national standards and is also available via ZOOM or online.

Objectives

  • Understand how to build a Health and Safety Management System

  • Learn to use the OH&S Act, Regulations, and Codes of Practice

  • Review key legislative responsibilities for supervisors

  • Conduct inspections and investigate incidents effectively

  • Train workers to work safely

  • OH&S Act, Regulations, and Codes of Practice

  • Communication with WSCC and the Chief Safety Officer

  • Supervisor/manager roles and responsibilities

  • Joint OH&S Committees and Internal Responsibility System

  • Legal duties of employers, supervisors, and workers

  • Hazard assessments and corrective actions

  • Contractor safety and liability

  • WSCC reporting (Prevention and Claims)

  • Return-to-work process to reduce lost time
