COR® Reciprocity
COR® is a national standard, but certification must be issued by the authority in each province or territory where a company operates.
In the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, the Northern Safety Association is the sole issuer of COR® Certification.
Companies that already hold COR® Certification through another Canadian safety association may request COR® Reciprocity if they need to work temporarily in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut and do not have a permanent base of operations in the territory.
To request COR® Reciprocity, the following documentation is required:
A completed COR® Reciprocity Application, confirming current COR® Certification and certificate expiry date, verified by the issuing construction safety association.
*You will need to contact your host construction safety association and request that they send this to the Northern Safety Assocaition.
A COR® Reciprocity Declaration Letter.
Once the documentation has been reviewed and approved by the NSA, the company will receive a COR® Reciprocity Letter for the Northwest Territories or Nunavut.
The reciprocity letter will expire on the same date as the company’s existing COR® Certificate, up to a maximum of twelve months. Companies must reapply if they wish to continue working in the territory after it expires.
If a company establishes ongoing work or a permanent presence in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut, COR® Reciprocity no longer applies and the company must apply for COR® Certification through the Northern Safety Association.
The COR® Letter of Reciprocity agreement with CFCSA is intended to recognize existing COR® certification across jurisdictions for bidding purposes only, and is not intended to be used consecutively to obtain work without transitioning to NSA COR® certification.
